One Tuesday morning, after suffering yet another sleepless night in agony with a bad back I made the call to the clinic. After briefly discussing my problem with his secretary my appointment was made for 12.30 that day.I limped into the clinic, back hunched over, with shooting pains down both my legs.
I spent the first five minutes explaining the seven year history of my back problem, and how my GP was treating me for muscle strain and prescribing me strong pain killers.
“I'm in absolute bloody agony” I explained, “and the pain killers just don’t work”
Andy had made his own diagnosis of my condition by this time and went on to explain to me all about the power assisted micro-manipulation machine that he would use as part of my treatment.
Andy’s professional and calming manner had made me feel totally relaxed and at ease by now and he started my treatment. After a gentle massage with oil he used the PAMM machine on my spine from top to bottom without me feeling any pain or discomfort (apart from cramp in my leg which he soon sorted out!).
After two further weekly sessions and following his ‘at home exercises’ I was able to dance around in work and play with my children at home, something I hadn’t been able to do in years! After a further two sessions (five in total), I was walking tall (no stoop) and totally pain free!!!
I followed Andy’s advice and got referred to the back clinic (R-clinic) at the Royal Liverpool Hospital where I had an MRI scan. The scan revealed that I had a massive prolapsed disc (slipped disc) and was operated on by a fantastic surgeon Mr.Marcus De Matas.

I have had a chronic back problem since injuring it playing squash. I went to osteopaths, orthopaedic surgeons, chiropractors, accupuncturists, physiotherapists, all of which failing to cure my problems. I saw an advertisement in my local paper for Andrew Shutt and his PAMM machine, and was willing to try almost anything to alleviate the constant pain from my back.
The treatment had an immediate impact, and I had an immediate reduction in the pain. I have continued to visit Andrew on a regular basis, whenever I feel a twinge in my back, in order to prevent a recurrence of the severe pain I used to experience.
Over the years, I have recommended a lot of people to Andrew who have had severe back pain, and almost without exception, they have had similar stories to my own.
